Gender inequality: determinants and outcomes in Nigeria

Purpose This paper aims to shed light on gender inequality in Nigeria exploring new available data. It makes a case for attention women empowerment and likely economic outcomes. The general objective of the research work is ascertain direction show pattern inequality. Also, sectoral trends are obtained by analyzing examining income Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach data from Living Standard Measurement Survey Wave 3, published 2017 with emphasis earnings that accrued both male female. study employed ordinary least square (OLS) method relationship between mean other parameters such as sector employment, marital status education level. Theil’s entropy index was used measure within exist economy across regions sectors while adopting overcrowding theory. Findings result shows more pronounced region, location some employment than others. Geographical area has higher effect disparity but among females. showed high regions, education, location, level contributes wages women. However, married deprived. Originality/value further revealed need bridge gap caused Nigeria, especially related income, geographical focus opportunities
